This sterling silver Solvar Claddagh necklace a beautiful marriage between marcasite and Irish Connemara marble. With marble inlaid in the top of the arch and marcasite's metallic glitter accenting the sides, this pendant carries an air of vintage elegance. Completed with a piece of marble set in the heart of love, it makes for a perfect addition to any wardrobe.
The Claddagh is one of the most popular symbols in Irish jewelry. Legend has it that in the 17th century, a Galway native was captured by pirates and sold into slavery. During his time as a slave he was sold to a wealthy goldsmith, who taught him the craft. When he was released years later and returned to Claddagh, Galway, he found his love still waiting for him. It was for her he created the Claddagh ring- the heart symbolising love, the hands friendship, and the crown loyalty.
Connemara marble is a unique stone and is known as “Ireland’s gemstone”. Over 900 million years old, it's the only green marble in the world and is only found in Ireland. Solvar's Connemara marble is authentic, coming from the Joyce family mine in Connemara, County Galway.
