This sterling silver Solvar Claddagh ring is a beautiful marriage between sterling silver and malachite. Set between the shining silver hands of friendship, the lovely malachite studs both the heart of love and crown of loyalty, its shades of green reminiscent of the breathtaking emerald hills and valleys of Ireland herself.
The Claddagh is one of the most popular symbols in Irish jewelry. Legend has it that in the 17th century, a Galway native was captured by pirates and sold into slavery. During his time as a slave he was sold to a wealthy goldsmith, who taught him the craft.
When he was released years later and returned to Claddagh, Galway, he found his love still waiting for him. It was for her he created the Claddagh ring- the heart symbolising love, the hands friendship, and the crown loyalty.
